Glacial lake, surrounded by mighty mountains, in the middle of which lies a small island with a church and over which the wall as a screen towering millennial castle, an image that remains in the memory. Slovenians are rightly proud of Bled, and it is interesting to mention the small island is also the only real Slovenian island.
Bled is a popular Slovenian destination, known for its skyline of a small island with a church in the middle of the lake. The proud castle on a cliff above the lake stands since the beginning of the 11th century, making it the oldest Slovenian castle. Today it is an interesting complex, where visitors can learn more about the history of Bled and its surroundings, but also to visit the printing house, in which the reconstructed Gutenberg machine and shows how the books printed in the 16th century. Another important attraction bled certainly the church of the Assumption, located in the middle of the lake, on the one true Slovene island.Next to it is related an interesting legend of the wishing bell and Polyxena and her eternal love for a lost husband. Of course, no visit to Bled is not complete without sampling their main specialties – Bled cream cake or Bled cream slice; as the Slovenes say. The original recipe dates from 1953, when the main master pastry hotel Park discovered a winning combination. The rest is history, and to date only at the Hotel Park served more than 10 million cream cake.
Bled is amazing, and most of visitors attracts the beauty of nature. However, there are two very attractive sights – the Bled castle and the church of the Assumption of Mary.
Certainly the most interesting attraction in Bled is the Bled Castle, a fortress located on a steep cliff, 130 meters above the lake. Except for the castle itself, it’s worth it to visit and see the beautiful view that stretches to the lake and surrounding area.

Lake Bled is not only famous for its beauty, but also by the fact that it carries only real Slovenian island. There in lies the Church of the Assumption, a motive church on an island in the middle of the lake is certainly the most recognizable symbol of Bled.
